Simulation models in the supersmart supermarket energy-benchmark tool.

Number: pap. 116

Author(s) : FIDORRA N., HAFNER A., KÖHLER J.

Summary

Supermarkets consume a relevant amount of predominantly electrical energy and still have a huge potential for increasing energy efficiency. TU Braunschweig and SINTEF Energy Research have been working on new concepts to reduce energy consumption in supermarkets. Within the CREATIV project an energy benchmark tool for supermarkets, called SuperSmart, is under development. SuperSmart will enable the user to design and analyse supermarkets from an energetic point of view and evaluate different design options. It addresses people with little previous knowledge in the field of refrigeration technology and a so called design-assistant and a component database will assist the user designing supermarkets with the tool. The main concept of the tool, as well as the operational requirements, such as commercially available products database creation, boundary conditions choice and definition of interfaces between models, will be briefly described in this publication. Additionally, considerations regarding the simulation models will be presented.
