COMPUTER AND MANUAL CALCULATIONAL PROCEDURES TO OPTIMIZE THE SIZE OF COOLING THERMAL ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEMS FOR BUILDINGS WITH TIME-OF-USE ELECTRIC RATES ARE DEVELOPED. FACTORS AFFECTING THE ECONOMICS OF THE STORAGE SYSTEM, SUCH AS THE ELECTRIC RATE STRUCTURE, OPERATING STRATEGY, AND SYSTEM COMPONENT SIZES, ARE DISCUSSED. AN OFFICE BUILDING IS USED TO DEMONSTRATE THE PROCEDURES.
