THE AUTHOR SURVEYS THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE TECHNOLOGY OF THE REFRIGERATION PLANT OF SKATING RINKS SINCE THEIR RAPID GROWTH IN FRANCE (AFTER 1967) AND SHOWS THE MORE RECENT TREND TO R22 DIRECT EXPANSION. HE MORE ESPECIALLY STRESSES THE SEARCH FOR SAVINGS IN OPERATING COSTS, MAINLY ENERGY SAVINGS (HEAT RECOVERY FOR DOMESTIC HOT WATER, USE OF THERMAL ENGINES WITH RECOVERY). CHARACTERISTICS AND CONSUMPTIONS ARE GIVEN MAKING IT POSSIBLE TO COMPARE THE PERFORMANCE OF ABOUT TEN FRENCH INSTALLATIONS. J.R.
