Slab cooling and earth coupling.
Author(s) : ZIMMERMANN M., MEIERHANS R.
Summary
Notes radical new energy laws in parts of Switzerland which permit active cooling only in exceptional cases, with the result that intensive efforts are being made to achieve acceptable indoor environments using passive HVAC concepts only. Describes three examples: 1) and 2) heat accumulation in the (concrete) structure of the building and night-time ventilation; 3) heat accumulation in the floor, using a network of preconditioned air passed through earth-pipe collectors.
