Summary

Although the energy prizes are low at the moment and apparently there is an abundance of energy, one has to realise that the reserves of mineral fuels are limited. Therefore, research for possibilities to use renewable energy sources is needed. There is much literature available about energy sources such as solar, wind, wave motion and existing temperature differences in nature. The demand for refrigeration is the greatest in hot, often remote regions. Because the solar insolation is also high in these areas, the combination of solar and refrigeration is obvious. In the article, the available technologies are granted; especially the state of the art concerning solar collectors and absorption machines.
