THE AUTHOR DESCRIBES THE MODELLING OF AN AMMONIA-WATER ABSORPTION SYSTEM USING A FLAT PLATE SOLAR COLLECTOR TO HEAT WATER AS THE GENERATOR HEATING MEDIUM. SETS OF RESULTS WERE OBTAINED FOR EVAPORATING TEMPERATURES IN THE RANGE 268 TO 278 K (-5 TO 5 DEG C) AND GENERATOR TEMPERATURES BETWEEN 333 AND 398 K (60 AND 125 DEG C). FOR A 10 TONS (35.2 KILOWATTS) REFRIGERATING DUTY, THE SOLAR COLLECTOR PLATE AREA NEEDED IS SHOWN FOR SOLAR RADIATION EXPECTED IN JUNE AT PHOENIX, ARIZONA, USA. D.W.H.
