Some Central European problems of standardizing the design of closed space for thermal comfort.

Author(s) : BANHIDI L.

Summary

There are several national and international standards for designing closed spaces for thermal comfort, all of which are based on the thermal balance of the human body and the 6 well-known parameters affecting thermal comfort. Buildings are classified according to predicted mean vote-predicted percentage of dissatisfied intervals. Of the parameters, it is mean radiant temperature and radiant temperature asymmetry that most often cause general and local discomfort in Central and East-European countries due to the poor insulation of the walls, doors and windows.
