Summary

An analysis of emergency situations that can arise due to seal failure in the system of ammonia refrigerating plants and leaks of ammonia, is given. The contamination zone at an outbreak of ammonia from a linear receiver is estimated. Main directions in designing ammonia refrigerating plants connected with prevention of emergency situations during their operation are outlined.
