Author(s) : CHEN R. G., HOU Y., YUAN X. L., et al.

Summary

The developmental process of gas bearing cryogenic turbo-expanders in China during the last 30 years is summarized. Various turbo-expanders, which have been successfully applied in some cryogenic fields such as small-scale gas liquefaction and separation plants of gas processing industry and helium refrigerators etc., are described in details. A comprehensive overview is presented for ongoing efforts at Xian Jiaotong University in support of gas bearing turbo-expanders, especially their important rotating support parts: various externally-pressurized and self-acting gas bearings.
