Summary

THE AUTHOR PROPOSES A METHOD FOR CALCULATING THE RESISTANCE OF EXTERNAL INSULATION SYSTEMS, FITTED ON BUILDING FRONTAGES, TO THE EFFECTS OF THE WIND. THIS METHOD IS BASED ON TESTS CARRIED OUT ON SMALL-SCALE MODELS IN WIND TUNNELS (IN ORDER TO MEASURETHE POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE PRESSURES AS A FUNCTION OF THE SHAPE OF THE BUILDING) ; IT IS ALSO BASED ON DYNAMIC TESTS, CARRIED OUT IN A BOX, ON THE RESISTANCE OF THE TYPE OF INSULANT USED (TESTS INCLUDING A SERIES OF ALTERNATE CYCLES OF POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE PRESSURES), WITH APPLICATION OF A SAFETY FACTOR. HE CHECKS THE COMPATIBILITY OF THIS METHOD WITH NATIONAL REGULATIONS IN FORCE IN FRG, SPAIN, FRANCE, GREAT BRITAIN AND ITALY. J.R.
