State of the standardization work in the field of heat pumps, air conditioning and refrigeration systems.

Author(s) : MONDOT M.

Summary

Refrigeration equipment, including heat pumps and air conditioning units, is concerned by a very active work of standardization. Development of standards are engaged at both European and international levels, by CEN and ISO committees respectively. All aspects of the equipment are taken into account. The rating and performance test methods are covered by CEN TC113 and ISO TC86 SC6 for heat pumps, air conditioning units, dehumidifiers and chillers. CEN TC182 and ISO TC86 SC1 are working on the safety and environmental requirements of refrigerating systems. Finally, CENELEC and IEC 61D committees are dealing with the electrical safety of the equipment. This paper presents the progress of work in the different standardization committees and briefly describes the contents of the standards under preparation.
