Storage of cold in buildings can be an attractive prospect.

Summary
If, when a building is being renovated, the air-conditioning is also to be renovated, seasonal storage of cold is worth considering. Particularly when the cooling water temperature and/or the air supply temperature is not too low (for example, a minimum inlet temperature of 15 deg C), storage of cold is an attractive alternative to the renovation or extension of the existing mechanical cooling installation. For systems of sufficient size the storage of energy with a temperature lower than the natural groundwater temperature is now commercially attractive.
