Summary
The paper investigates the behaviour of seeds. Orthodox seeds, which can be easily dehydrated are able to be stored for very long time, but recalcitrant seeds, which are high in moisture content and cannot be dehydrated, are less suitable for long storage. For these seeds, a too low temperature induces chilling injury and a too high means a great risk of germination or microbial growth.
