THE AUTHORS ANALYSE STRESS GAUGES, ADHESIVES AND THE CABLES FROM DIFFERENT MANUFACTURERS. IN ORDER TO CHARACTERIZE GAUGES IT WAS NECESSARY TO: A) DETERMINE THE APPARENT STRAIN TO 4.2 K ; B) MEASURE THEGAUGING FACTOR IN TERMS OF TEMPERATURE AND MAGNETIC FIELD ; AND C) EVALUATE THE EFFECTS OF SELF-HEATING FOR DIFFERENT VALUES OF POWER DISSIPATED IN THE GAUGE AND TO DEFINE THE OPTIMUM SUPPLY CONDITIONS AS A FUNCTION OF DIFFERENT PARAMETERS (SUPPORT MATERIALS, WORKING TEMPERATURE).
