EFFECTS OF SPECIMEN PREPARATION CONDITIONS AND THOSE OF THIRD ELEMENT SUBSTITUTION ON THE STRUCTURE AND SUPERCONDUCTING PROPERTIES OF LITHIUM-TITANIUM OXIDES HAVE BEEN STUDIED. THE STRUCTURE AND SUPERCONDUCTING PROPERTIES OF LITI(2)O(4) ARE VERY SENSITIVE TO OXYGEN, AND THE INCORPORATION OF EXCESS OXYGEN SEVERELY DETERIORATES THE SUPERCONDUCTING PERFORMANCE OF THIS OXIDE.
