Studies for designing an experimental model of a cryostat for superfluid helium.

Author(s) : BRAD S., VIJULIE M., LAZAR A., et al.

Summary

The superfluid helium, with its high thermal conductivity, represents an ideal cryogenic fluid for a great number of different applications. In the last few years, one can observe an increased interest in developing new methods to obtain powerful magnetic fields and stable magnets. These research activities enhance new technologies for the superfluid helium flowing through the internal channels of superconducting magnets. Therefore, we need to know specific details regarding heat and mass transfer phenomena for superfluid helium. The experimental model of cryostat developed in this paper can be used for study the turbulence of superfluid helium, in order to obtain a view on the interaction of the turbulence in case of great flow rate of superfluid helium.
