STUDIES ON PRESSURE DROPS IN AIR FLOWING THROUGH INSIDE TUBES WITH FROSTING.

Author(s) : ISHIHARA I., KATSUTA K.

Summary

WHEN HUMID AIR FLOWS THROUGH INTERNAL TUBES WITH WALLS COOLED TO LOW TEMPERATURE, FROST WILL ACCUMULATE AND OFFER A RESISTANCE TO AIR FLOW. THE TEST STUDY OF PRESSURE CHANGES WAS MADE BY OBSERVING THE PATTERN OF THE FROST LAYER FORMED AT A CONSTANT AIR FLOW RATE ; THE PRESSURE CHANGES AND FROST THICKNESS AND MASS WERE THEN MEASURED. THIS MADE IT POSSIBLE TO DETERMINE THE COEFFICIENT OF PRESSURE DROPS ; THE ROUGHNESS OF THE FROST LAYER SURFACE WAS EVALUATED HYDRODYNAMICALLY.
