Summary

STUDY OF A JOULE-THOMSON CRYOREFRIGERATOR, ENABLING ONE TO REACH LIQUID HELIUM TEMPERATURES. THE PRECOOLING OF THE JOULE-THOMSON SECTION IS PROVIDED BY A GIFFORD-MCMAHON REFRIGERATING MACHINE, WHOSE PERFORMANCE AND CHARACTERISTICS WERE ANALYZED THE PECULIAR FEATURE OF THE JOULE-THOMSON LOOP IS THE USE OF AN ADSORPTION CRYOGENIC THERMAL COMPRESSOR. THIS COMPRESSOR INCLUDES NO MOVING MECHANICAL PARTS AND USES THERMAL ENERGY AS THE SOLE ENERGY SOURCE. THE HELIUM ADSORPTION ISOTHERMS ON ACTIVATED CHARCOAL UNDER HIGH PRESSURE (0 TO 4 MEGAPASCALS) AT LOW TEMPERATURES (10 TO 80 K) WERE MEASURED. THE RESULTS OBTAINED AND THE CALCULATIONS OF SPECIFIC CAPACITY CONFIRM THE RELIABILITY OF THE CIRCUIT. A PROTOTYPE WAS CONSTRUCTED.
