Summary

FROM EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH CARRIED OUT ON A HORIZONTAL FILM ABSORBER WITH AN AMMONIA SOLUTION, A SERIES OF CORRELATIONS WAS FOUND BETWEEN THE HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER COEFFICIENTS FOR THE SOLUTION, ON ONE HAND, AND THE LENGTH OF THE FILM, THE SPRAYING DENSITY, THE CONCENTRATION AND THE INITIAL TEMPERATURE OF THE SOLUTION, AS WELL AS THE MASS FLOW RATES OF THE AMMONIA VAPOUR OR OF THE COOLING WATER ON THE OTHER HAND. THE HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER EQUATIONS ARE DEDUCED.
