Study of HFC134a condensation in a bundle of trapezoidal-finned tubes.

Etude de la condensation du HFC134a dans un faisceau de tubes à ailettes trapézoïdales.

Summary

The thermal performance of R134a must be correctly evaluated for the sizing of heat exchangers. An experiment was carried out on a model. The refrigerant fluid condensed outside the tubes, and the cooling water circulated inside. By measuring the thermal performance of each row of tubes, the effect of condensate flooding at negligible vapour speeds can be highlighted. Visualization tests were also done on the condensate to demonstrate the flooding of the lower part of the finned tube and the different streaming regimes encountered. The measurements can be used to determine which model is most suited to condensation of R134a.
