Study of the efficiency of a magneto-thermal system according to the permeability of the magnetocaloric material around its Curie temperature.

Author(s) : MULLER C., BOUR L., VASILE C.

Summary

Experiments were carried out using MCM near by their Curie point value and looking for the impact of variation of the MCM's permeability on the magnetic field intensity. It was also investigated numerically and experimentally the effect of the position of the magnetic field on the heat transfer values and on the driving force characteristics for the heat transport device. In this paper the following aspects will be also addressed: the impact of the permeability variation of a MCM around its Curie point on the mechanical energy necessary to ensure a relative displacement between the magnetic assembly and the MCM; the construction of the magnetocaloric system and the evaluation of the its efficiency. It is shown that the set-up described in the paper can reduce the electrical consumption necessary for the moving parts of the system and thus raising the efficiency of the whole system.
