Study on the heat and mass transfer of adsorbent beds in adsorption refrigeration systems.

Summary
Six units similar to tube and shell heat exchangers are included in the tested adsorbent bed working with an activated carbon-NH3 pair. The bed is located in an adsorption air conditioner. The mathematical model of heat and mass transfer in one unit is proposed using the fluid flow concept in porous media. The computed results are in agreement with experimental data. The computed distributions of porous medium volume-average temperature and pressure are obtained throughout the bed.
