Study on the interior coil insulation of a superconducting transformer.

Author(s) : JOUNG J. M., BAEK S. M., KIM Y. S., et al.

Summary

To clarify the components of insulation for superconducting transformer, there are four main parts: interior coil of each primary or secondary winding, between primary and secondary windings and between coils and grounded structures. Among them, the interior coil insulation is dominated by the characteristics of surface flashover and the behaviour of liquid nitrogen. Therefore, the authors tested surface flashover characteristics on various spacers and observed partial discharges at the micro gap.
