Summary
Compressor specialists have above all focused their developmental activities on new refrigerants. R410A previously constituted a veritable challenge because of the operating pressures it required; it is now being specifically investigated. The use of several refrigerants is expanding due to the need to address unknown quantities in the future. Scroll and screw compressors are continuing to find favour on the market, to the detriment of reciprocating compressors.
