Sustainable heating and cooling for apartment buildings.

Appartementen Assen duurzaam verwarmd én gekoeld.

Type of article: Article, Case study

Summary

For over a year, residents of an apartment complex in The Netherlands used a sustainable energy installation that combines aquifer ground storage with solar energy in an efficient way. A number of residents also used the system to cool their homes. During the warmer months the system provides extra comfort, while the additional investment required for the installation is compensated by savings on the use of fossil fuels. It is an example of a sustainable energy installation for smaller-scale residential complexes that delivers both heating and cooling.
