SYSTEM HEAD CURVES AND AREAS FOR CENTRAL CHILLED WATER SYSTEMS.

Author(s) : RISHEL J. B.

Summary

THE PURPOSE OF THIS PAPER IS TO DEMONSTRATE THE BROAD PUMPING HEAD REQUIREMENTS THAT CAN EXIST IN CHILLED WATER SYSTEMS OF BUILDINGS CONNECTED TO A CENTRAL CHILLED WATER PLANT. THIS PAPER PROVIDES THE CHILLED WATER SYSTEM DESIGNER WITH A METHOD OF CALCULATING BOTH THE UNIFORM SYSTEM HEAD CURVE AND THE SYSTEM HEAD AREA FOR EACH BUILDING CONNECTED TO A CENTRAL CHILLED WATER SYSTEM. IT DEMONSTRATES THE NEED FOR VARIABLE VOLUME, VARIABLE HEAD PUMPING IN CENTRAL CHILLED WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS. THE CALCULATION OF PUMPING HEAD FOR SUCH SYSTEMS IS COMPLEX AND IS AIDED BY THE PROCEDURES INCLUDED IN THIS PAPER.
