Summary

There are two major cargo containment systems for LNG carriers in the world. These are the Moss type (independent spherical tank type) and Membrane type (integrated tank type). For the Moss-type LNG carrier, the spiral generation system or the panel system has been applied as cargo tank insulation system. The Dukhan delivered in 2004 by Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. is a Moss-type LNG carrier. The Dukhan has five spherical cargo tanks and applies a spiral generation system as the insulation system. There are three Membrane types, which are the TGZ Mark III system, the GT NO96 system and the CS1 system. The CS1 system is a new system which integrates the merits of both the TGZ Mark III system and the GT NO96 system.
