Summary
IHI's first SPB LNG tanker, the 89 000 m3 POLAR EAGLE is now in commercial operation, and will shortly be joined by a sister ship ARCTIC SUN on the route from Alaska to Japan. The SPB (Self-supporting, Prismatic shape, and IMO type B) concept claims to offer many technical benefits. Profile drawings are given.
