La technologie à la rencontre de la préhistoire.

Summary

The renovation of the former "zoology gallery" of the Jardin des Plantes in Paris, with a goal of making it into a scientific cultural centre devoted to the natural sciences featuring a 15,000 m2 educational centre, created severe space restrictions for heating equipment. The equipment, including 3 hot-water substations, 2 water-condensation liquid chillers, 2 ice tanks for cold accumulation, and 2 exchangers to feed the 13 air-treatment units, was placed in the basement and in the lofts. The handling and transport of the equipment created huge problems, as did its assembly, particularly the ventilation network. The individual treatment of the four different types of space are described: air conditioned, intermediate, cooled and non-treated. J.L.
