Temperature and heat flux measurement inside variable-speed scroll compressor.

Author(s) : JANG K., JEONG S.

Summary

A scroll compressor is known to be adequate for the operation at variable speed, which is commonly required for multi air-conditioning unit. In a scroll compressor, the gas coming out of the discharge port is hotter than the gas entering the suction port. As a result heat is transferred from the center to the periphery through the scroll walls and the gas in the pocket. The paper describes an experimental study of the internal heat transfer mode inside scroll compressor as well as a heat transfer mechanism in the scroll wraps, which can explain the inward heat flux.
