TESTING OF FORCED CIRCULATION AIR COOLERS. METHOD AND APPARATUS.

Author(s) : SMUTNY F.

Summary

A MULTIPURPOSE TEST STATION PROVIDES THE TESTING OF INDIVIDUAL COOLERS AND OF SELF-CONTAINED COOLING UNITS. IT MEETS CZECHOSLOVAKIAN AND FOREIGN STANDARDS FOR THE MEASUREMENTS OF REFRIGERATING CAPACITY UNDER STEADY CONDITIONS. IT CAN BE ADAPTED TO A RATHER WIDE RANGE OF TEST CONDITIONS. BY MEASURING THE REFRIGERATING CAPACITY OF TWO COOLERS OF SIMILAR DESIGN, DIFFERING ONLY BY THE NUMBER OF TUBE ROWS IN THE DIRECTION OF AIR FLOW, IT WAS OBSERVED THAT THE SIX ROW EVAPORATOR HAD A HIGHER CAPACITY THAN THAT WITH SEVEN ROWS. THIS SHOWS THE IMPORTANCE OF OPTIMISING THE SYSTEM AS A WHOLE: EXPANSION VALVE, DISTRIBUTOR, EVAPORATOR AND FAN.
