Testing of refrigeration compressors.

Summary

Examples of experimental and simulated results are analyzed in the paper. The main goal of the tests was to obtain the power consumption and refrigerating capacity necessary for different evaporating and condensing operating conditions. The test facility used consists of a water-to-water chiller unit with a maximum capacity rating of about 300 kilowatts, which is fully instrumented for data acquisition, and uses R22 as the primary working fluid. Some specific features of this test bench are: installing of the compressor in a calorimetric chamber, a closed water network connecting condenser and evaporator, bypass of hot gases, liquid injection mixing circuit and parallel arrangement of plate heat exchangers for both condenser and evaporator.
