Author(s) : KUBO S., KOYAMA K., HIEDA N.

Summary

The authors' LNG receiving terminal started its operation for the purpose of supplying natural gas to thermal power stations and steel plants operating in Kitakyushu City located in an industrial zone. This terminal introduced cryogenic power generation facilities and air liquefying separation plant utilizing cryogenic energy of LNG at a relatively early stage, and very efficient operations have been maintained until now. Then, they started to send out gas to a local city gas company as part of their sales project, and in recent years, they have also been supplying LNG by tank lorry and coastal LNG tanker to city gas companies and manufacturers such as automobile industry located in the distance. Meanwhile, as countermeasures against the aging and obsolescence of the terminal facilities, they have implemented scheduled maintenance and total renewal of some main facilities. The authors have also endeavoured to perform safe and stable operations of the LNG receiving terminal by carrying out reliable operation management. They describe the results of the growth to "Multifunctional high efficiency type LNG receiving terminal" and future implementation plans of their terminal, which has continued stable supply of gas and LNG to diversified customers for the past 30 years or so.
