THE ARTICLE INTRODUCES THE ABSORPTION SYSTEM FROM THE BASIC FUNDAMENTALS OF BINARY HOMOGENEOUS MIXTURES. RAOULT'S LAW IS USED TO IDENTIFY THE PARTIAL AND TOTAL PRESSURES OF A MIXTURE, AND BOILING AND CONDENSING RANGES ARE EXPLAINED. THERMAL PROPERTIES OF MIXTURES ARE DISCUSSED TO FIND ENTHALPIES AND THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE P-T-X-H DIAGRAM IS EXPLAINED. THE SYSTEM IS THEN DESCRIBED IN DETAIL WHERE DIVERGENCE FROM THE COMPRESSION PROCESS OCCURS. THIS INCLUDES ADIABATIC MIXING AND MIXING WITH HEAT EXCHANGE OF A BINARY FLUID, ALSO HEATING, COOLING, RECTIFICATION, THROTTLING AND HEAT EXCHANGE PROCESSES WITHOUT MIXING. D.W.H.
