Summary

Geothermal energy has been getting popular as a natural energy source for green buildings these days. As a result, geothermal source heat pump systems (GSHPs) have been recognized as effective alternative systems to conventional heating and cooling systems owing to their higher energy efficiency. The building with a cooling load 100 USRT is modelled for this analysis. Economic analysis has been carried out by payback period method and CO2 reduction effect was analyzed using TOE and TCO2 conversion rate and the value of certified emission reduction in emission trading system. It is found that GSHPs could reduce CO2 emissions than EHP system and absorption chiller heater system by 59 and 62%, respectively.
