THE AVAILABILITY OF SOLAR RADIATION IN BEER-SHEVA (THE NEGEV REGION).

Summary

THE AUTHORS MONITORED THE GLOBAL INSOLATION INCIDENT ON A HORIZONTAL SURFACE IN BEER-SHEVA OVER A NUMBER OF YEARS. IF THE SOLAR SYSTEM UNDER CONSIDERATION IS OF THE CONCENTRATING TYPE, IT IS ALSO NECESSARY TO HAVE INFORMATION CONCERNING THE FRACTION OF THE GLOBAL SOLAR RADIATION THAT IS DIRECT RADIATION. THE AUTHORS HAVE DETERMINED THE MONTHLY AVERAGE DAILY FRACTION OF DIFFUSE RADIATION BY MEANS OF THREE DIFFERENT CORRELATIONS, VIZ LIU AND JORDAN, PAGE AND COLLARES-PEREIRA AND RABL. THE AVERAGE DAILY FRACTION OF RADIATION THROUGHOUT THE YEAR WAS FOUND TO VARY BETWEEN 0.32 AND 0.37, DEPENDING ON THE CORRELATION USED.
