THE EXPERIENCE WITH THE USE OF CRYOSURGERY ON 43 SELECTED PATIENTS WITHIN AN OTOLARYNGOLOGICAL PRACTICE IS DISCUSSED. A LIQUID NITROGEN PROBE WITH A TIP TEMPERATURE OF 123 K (-150 DEG C) WAS GENERALLY USED TO FREEZE TISSUE TO ABOUT 223 K (-50 DEG C) THEN THAW AND REFREEZE. IT IS WELL SUITED FOR THE CURATIVE TREATMENT, IN SELECTED CASES, OF SMALL INTRAORAL TUMOURS (LESS THAN 2 CM). THE ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF TREATMENT ARE GIVEN. C.R.F.
