THE CONTROLLED TEMPERATURE TRANSPORT: "ICE GIPSY" SYSTEM.

Author(s) : TURCHI P., POLI S.

Summary

THE REFRIGERATING SYSTEM SHOULD BE SELECTED, ALLOWING FOR THE TECHNICAL AND ECONOMIC FEASIBILITY. THE SYSTEM WITH EXPANDED REFRIGERANTS (CO2 OR LIQUID NITROGEN) ARE SIMPLE MECHANICALLY AND REQUIRE LITTLE MAINTENANCE COMPARED TO CONVENTIONAL REFRIGERATING SYSTEMS. THE CONSTANT RISE OF FUEL PRICES AND SPARE PARTS OF A MECHANICAL SYSTEM MAKES THE USE OF EXPANDED REFRIGERANTS MORE SUITABLE. IF THE MOST FREQUENTLY USED MATERIALS ARE CONSIDERED, CO2 IS THE LEAST EXPENSIVE, IT HAS A GOOD THERMODYNAMIC OUTPUT AND BACTERIOSTATIC PROPERTIES. THE AUTHORS DESCRIBE A SYSTEM OPERATING WITH CO2 AND REPORT SOME TESTS. THEY MADE AN ECONOMIC EVALUATION OF BOTH SYSTEMS, MECHANICAL AND WITH A COOLING AGENT, AND FOR THIS A COMPARISON OF CO2 AND LIQUID NITROGEN.
