IIR document

The designing of new process of high purity neon production by desublimation method.

Summary

The new separation principle of a neon-helium mixture is presented. The mixture is precooled step by step up to helium temperatures (about 10 K) under low pressure (100 à 200 kilopascals) and after that it is condensed on special tube surface with high contact square. Neon is condensed from mixture to solid phase without liquid phase, that allows to obtain a high purity gas (neon higher or egal to 99.999%). The pilot unit, which is based on this principle, is described in the paper. The production possibility of the unit is 1 m3 per hour.
