Summary
In December 1994, the European Parliament and the European Council of Ministers adopted a directive concerning packaging and packaging waste. The article examines the power of the directive over individual national legislation, and outlines the obligations which now apply to the various parties, both governmental and industrial, in all the European Union Member States as a result of it.
