Summary

The directive aims at harmonizing the measures in the countries related to managing package and package waste, in order to prevent and reduce their impact on environment and guarantee the interior market operation. It provides measures aiming at preventing package waste - as a first priority - and reusing packaging, recycling and other forms of reclaiming of package waste, and therefore, the reduction in the waste requiring disposal.
