Summary

EXPANSION CONTROLIN REFRIGERATION PLANTS INFLUENCES MORE OR LESS THE DEHUMIDIFICATION BY AIR COOLERS AND, IN GENERAL, THE PERFORMANCE OF THE REFRIGERATING SYSTEM. THE ORIGIN OF THESE EFFECTS IS THE INCOMPLETE USE OF THE HEAT-EXCHANGING SURFACE OF THE EVAPORATOR, IF THE NECESSARY SUPERHEAT OF THE THERMOSTATIC EXPANSION IS NOT ADJUSTED AT THE MINIMUM VALUE. A MINIMUM VALUE IS NEVERTHELESS ONLY POSSIBLE WITH ONE DETERMINED LOAD OF THE EVAPORATOR IN THE CASE OF A CLASSIC EXPANSION SYSTEM. DIGITAL CONTROL, HOWEVER, GIVES THE POSSIBILITY, THANKS TO THE MEMORY FUNCTIONS, OF THE ADAPTIVE CONTROL WHICH CAN LOOK FOR THE MINIMUM SUPERHEAT WITH EVERY LOAD OF THE EVAPORATOR. THIS LEADS TO HIGH COP VALUES AND TO HIGHER FIN TEMPERATURES FOR AIR COOLERS.
