THE INFLUENCE OF OIL STICTION ON COMPRESSOR VALVE PERFORMANCE.

Summary

THE VALVE MOTIONS OF A COMPRESSOR ARE DELAYED BY THE ADHESION OF THE VALVE TO THE GUARD AND THE SEAT DUE TO OIL VISCOSITY. MEASURED VALUES OF THE DELAY IN OPENING AND SHUTTING WERE INTRODUCED IN A MATHEMATICAL MODEL IN ORDER TO PREDICT THE BEHAVIOUR OF THE COMPRESSOR. THIS ANALYSIS SHOWED THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTORS OCCURRING IN THE DYNAMIC OPERATION OF THE VALVES: OIL AMOUNT AND VISCOSITY AND COMPRESSOR SPEED.
