Summary
The world's banana production (55.5 megatons in 1995) has never stopped growing since 1990. South-East Asia and Latin America produce 80% of the world's volume. Since the late 1980s, the volume of exports has been growing by 6% every year and has tripled in value; over 13 megatons were exported in 1995. Ecuador ranks first in exports.
