The peculiarities of physico-mechanical properties of structural materials at low temperatures.

Summary

Data on mechanical properties for a variety of cryogenic structural materials in the temperature range 300-4.2 K are reported, and the peculiarities in the behaviour of these materials under low-temperature processes of deformation and fracture are described. The observed peculiarities are explained using comprehensive microstructural results for these materials. Structural criteria for optimization of low temperature mechanical and manufacturing properties of materials studied are proposed.
