Type of monograph: Thesis

Summary

This thesis describes investigations of air flow rates in displacement ventilation systems by measurements of temperature gradients, convection flows and tracer gas concentrations. Effectiveness was measured for different combinations of air flow rate, heat load and tracer gas source. It presents models for the temperature gradient and convection flow rates, effect on ventilation efficiency and local ventilation indices of the siting of the pollution source and the type of tracer gas. Local ventilation indices with the surroundings and the effect of different disturbances such as people's movements are compared.
