Summary

A LEADING ITALIAN FIRM EXPLAINS ITS TECHNOLOGY IN PREFABRICATION OF COLD STORES. BUILDINGS ARE COMPOSED OF A RETICULATED STRUCTURE CARRYING THE INSULATION SYSTEM, IN THE FORM OF SANDWICH PANELS WITH A CORE OF EXPANDED POLYURETHANE, FOAMED BETWEEN TWO STEEL SHEETS. THE PANEL FACES HAVE DIFFERENT SHAPES, BECAUSE THE INSULATION IS FIXED TO THE CARRYING STRUCTURE BY MEANS OF DOVETAILS ; THE ELIMINATION OF WELDING, RIVETING OR BOLT FIXING ALLOWS CONTINUITY FOR BOTH THE VAPOUR BARRIER AND THE INSULATING MATERIAL ; MOREOVER, THE POSSIBILITY OF RELATIVE SLIDING BETWEEN THE INSULATION AND ITS SUPPORT PREVENTS STRESSES CAUSED BY DIFFERENT THERMAL EXPANSION. THE CONNECTION BETWEEN ADJOINING PANELS IS ACHIEVED BY MEANS OF CONVENTIONAL TECHNIQUES, USING OVERLAPPING STEEL BANDS AND POLYURETHANE FOAMED . N IT>ATNTL. F.
