The prospects of heat pumps for recovering waste heat in Lithuania.

Summary

The authors present data on large water-circulation cooling loops in industrial plants of Lithuania, and some details on the reconstruction project of the district heating in town Kédainiai, where timber lignine, a local production waste, and waste heat of the State Chemical Plant of Kédainiai are suggested as heat sources. The project includes several constructions, including heat pumps, of reasonable pay-off periods. The present tariffs for heat could be reduced by a half.
