The pumping performance of liquid helium cryocondensation pump for a neutral beam injector.

Author(s) : HU C. D., XIE Y., OUYANG Z. G.

Summary

Liquid helium (LHe) cryocondensation pump is an ideal vacuum pumping device for maintaining a specified pressure distribution inside the neutral beam injector system. Its structure is different from that of cryocondensation pump used in industry or small laboratory. In order to optimize its cryopumping performance, parameters necessary for evaluating the pumping performance was analyzed. Measurements to optimize them were obtained. One prototype cryocondensation pump mounted in the drift tube of neutral beam injector system was designed and manufactured. Pumping performance test for pumping speed, pumping capacity was done. The results indicate that a LHe cryocondensation pump with designed cryopanel structure could meet the requirement of neutral beam injector system for vacuum system very well. The results may apply to the cryopanel cooled by forced flow LHe.
