Summary

Describes an alternative ice rink which permits dual use of sports facilities such as roller skating rinks or tennis courts. Flexible cooling mates with rubber tubes through which a refrigerated brine flows at minus 10 deg C are laid on the prepared surface in late autumn by trained personnel and taken up again at the end of the season. The cold surface is sprayed with water until the ice layer is at the desired thickness. The sequence of operations is reversed to dismantle the ice rink at the end of the season. Notes the satisfactory use of the system in Germany.
